The City of Ventnor will be installing new solar-powered parking meters that are equipped with smart technology to replace existing meters. The new meters will allow customers to pay with coins, credit cards or via phone.
Installation of the new meters will begin in May and run through October.
The meters will cost $112,517 and will be purchased using the City’s capital fund. The cost is expected to be recouped in one to two seasons.
A public hearing on increasing the hourly rate for parking meters from $1 to $2 will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
The City is also considering new locations for meters and encourages public feedback.
