Important Information from the Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control

Please do your part to prevent standing water from accumulating on your property. Here's how:

  • Containers - Empty them, turn them over or get rid of them!
  • Swimming pools and spas - Keep them well maintained!
  • Old tires – Recycle them or cover them to keep water out!
  • Birdbaths - Change the water at least once a week!
  • Rain gutters -Keep free from debris so they don’t get clogged and hold rain water!
  • Empty water collected in tarps around your yard!

To prevent mosquito bites:

  • Use an EPA-registered insect repellent according to directions.
  • Wear light colored, loose long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
  • Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and at dusk.
  • Try to avoid outdoor activities during those times of the day.
