Flash Flood Warning

Occasional rain continues into early afternoon and we'll see the rain become more frequent through the rest of the day. This should add up to 1-2" by the time most of the rain ends 5-8 PM. The concern is for localized areas of very heavy downpours, which has already occurred further west. Coastal Atlantic County and Southern Ocean will be near these areas and flash flooding needs to be monitored for a 6-hour period later today. In addition, if the heaviest rain pushes north, the atmosphere will be conducive for severe storms. Forecasts seem to indicate that this will be more south (Cape May / S. DE), but it's something to be aware of.

Coastal flooding is going to become a concern as minor tidal flooding is possible with this evening's high tide (7-9 PM). Tides 1.0 - 1.5 feet above the average high tide can lead to flooding in prone areas. See https://coast.noaa.gov/slr/ for details
