Ventnor Water Flushing To Begin September 24

To maintain water quality, Ventnor Water & Sewer along with the Ventnor Fire Department will be flushing the City's fire hydrants and water mains for five weeks beginning September 24 and ending October 26.

The testing will begin at Jackson Avenue and proceed south to Fredericksburg Avenue, followed by Ventnor West, and finishing in Ventnor Heights.

Residents should not be alarmed if discoloration of tap water is noticed, as this condition is not harmful and will dissipate in several hours. Residents should avoid washing clothes, especially white loads, throughout the testing period or while the water is discolored.

There may be periods where the water pressure will drop somewhat when testing and flushing are ongoing.

The process forces water through water mains at a high speed then discharges it through hydrants. The fast-moving water scours and cleans the mains by removing sediment that slowly builds up at the bottom of the main over time.
