The Mayor and Commissioners invite you to come out and enjoy the City of Ventnor's fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, beginning at 9:20 PM.
In preparation for the upcoming event, the Ventnor City Police Department would like to share some important information:
On Wednesday, July 3, there will be no public access beyond the second gate of the pier. This includes no fishing.
The bathroom and concession stand will be open to the public during the day. However, there will be intermediate times throughout the day in which access will be restricted to the pier while the fireworks display is being brought on site and set up.
The entire pier will be closed to the public starting at 8 PM in preparation for the fireworks show.
The beach area on both sides of the pier will have a roped off area during the day. This area will be accessible to the public to enjoy the beach. However, the interior of this roped off area will be restricted to the public starting at 6 PM. We asked for everyone’s cooperation in exiting this interior roped off area by 6 PM.

My Beach Mobile App Gives Beachgoers the Option to Purchase Digital Beach Tags
Ventnor City is taking a technological leap forward by offering digital beach tags this summer. Beachgoers can now use My Beach Mobile, an app developed by New Jersey natives, to not just purchase, but also display beach tags directly from a mobile device. Ventnor City is joining other beaches offering a digital option, including Sea Isle City, Margate City, and Long Beach Township.
My Beach Mobile’s self-authenticating QR codes make purchasing and validating passes easy and convenient. Just open the app, purchase your pass, and show your animated QR code for entry.
Everyone recognizes the nostalgia associated with physical passes, because who doesn’t have a collection of old passes pinned to their grandmother’s sun hat? Physical passes will still be for sale at City Hall, on the beach and via Jersey Cape online.
My Beach Mobile’s team sought to make beach access easier by eliminating all the issues they faced when frequenting their local beach towns. Digital passes remove the hurdles they often face, such as forgotten and lost passes. The mobile app also eliminates the need to carry cash to the beach.
The app takes security seriously; it utilizes full back-end encryption and Stripe as its third-party payment API. These safety measures were implemented to protect the users’ data and safeguard municipal funds.
The app is available to download for Apple and Android users. For more information, visit https://www.mybeachmobile.com/

My Beach Mobile is a proprietary app that allows users to purchase and use beach passes directly from their mobile device. The digital passes are convenient, safe, and environmentally-friendly. An excerpt of the Lower Ventnor Heights Resiliency Project Presentation from DeBlasio and Associates is included below as well as a link to the full report presentation.
The City of Ventnor is located on the Atlantic Ocean coastline and back bay intercoastal waterway in Atlantic County, New Jersey. The City is located on 8.1 mile long Absecon Island, along with Atlantic City to the northeast, and Margate City and Longport on the southwest. Each year the City is presented with a constant threat to this community from sea level rise, coastal flooding, Nor'easters and tropical-borne storm activity, introducing severe wave and flood impacts.
The City of Ventnor has been historically subject to flooding, beach erosion and many other associated problems that require an aggressive approach to successfully manage infrastructure maintenance and flood damage mitigation. Mitigation is any sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate the risk of life and property from hazardous events. The City has developed a varied approach to protect and maintain its infrastructure, natural areas, public safety, welfare, and property of its residents, and continues to improve annually with the implementation of improvements, new technologies and with assistance from outside public agencies.
This report focuses on Ventnor Heights, which is a suburban section of Ventnor City on a former marsh island and the area nearest Dorset Avenue bridge has a concentration of repetitive loss properties, low elevation, older housing stock compared to the rest of the Ventnor Heights, and prevalence of year-round occupancy.

Ventnor Public Works in partnership with the Green Team have installed two Beach Basket stations, one at Dorset Avenue and the other at New Haven Avenue. The baskets are available to beach walkers who like to pick up litter and recycling during their walks along the beach. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and its awarded contractor Great Lakes Dredging, will begin a beach replenishment project stretching from Atlantic City through Longport.
Ventnor will be the first area started (end of September, early October), then the work will progress to Margate, Longport and lastly, Atlantic City.
Ventnor is scheduled to receive approximately 426,00 cubic yards of sand. The proposed beach nourishment area in Ventnor will extend from Harvard Avenue to Fredericksburg Avenue and will include dune repair with grass plantings, cross over repair and street end scupper excavation (for street drainage onto the back beach area). The contract also includes the reconstruction of the Suffolk Avenue beach access ramp in Ventnor.
The contractor will utilize a hopper dredge for the Ventnor, Margate and Longport portion of the project that will remove sand from an offshore borrow zone and transport the material to a submerged pipe closer to the shore where it will pump sand to the beach. The landing area for the submerged pipe will be near Philadelphia Avenue in Ventnor.

After much deliberation, the Ventnor Summer Beach Jam and Mini Farmers Market scheduled for this Saturday, July 4, have been canceled out of caution for our community's health and well-being. We look forward to safely enjoying music on the beach in the coming weeks and will keep you posted on when festivities will resume! Thank you for your understanding.
Attention All Ventnor Residents and Visitors: The Mayor and Commissioners are pleased to announce that barbecuing on the beautiful beaches of Ventnor will be permitted EVERY DAY starting Saturday, July 4, through Labor Day, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Propane grills only (no propane tanks larger than 20 lbs.). Coals are difficult to dispose of safely at the beach, if you bury them, and they are still hot, someone can step on them and burn their feet. Putting them in the trash will start a fire.
Popup 10x10 tents are allowable, no tent should be enclosed by order of the Ventnor City Fire Department.
VCFD reminds you of these Grilling Safety Tips for Outdoor Cooking:
Have a great summer, continue practicing social distancing and remember to wear your masks when appropriate!
Boardwalk will open to pedestrian traffic on Friday, May 22. Beaches will open for swimming and sunbathing Saturday, May 23.
Beginning Friday, May 22 at sunrise, the Ventnor Boardwalk will be open to pedestrian traffic only (walking and running). No bike riding on the boardwalk (bike riding will begin a week later on May 29).
Pedestrians on the boardwalk should stay to the right side to maintain physical distancing. No dogs are allowed on the boardwalk at any time.
Beachgoers are expected to follow social distancing guidelines - staying 6-feet apart as much as possible. It’s critically important that everyone respects these guidelines and each other so that we all can enjoy Ventnor’s greatest natural asset. An increased Police presence this summer on the beach will enforce the 6 foot guideline.
Swimming at guarded beaches will be allowed Saturday, May 23rd at the normal four pre-season beaches including Headquarters Suffolk Ave, Dorset Ave, New Haven and Lafayette Avenues.
These four locations will have two stands each to spread out bathing area. Swimming will expand to all guarded beaches as the season progresses. Ventnor Fire Department will add two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to the beach during the day that are trained in Covid-19 Response to assist the Ventnor Beach Patrol.
The City of Ventnor requires Beach Badges for the Beach from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
The Governors Guidelines for beaches that apply on May 23rd to Ventnor are:
Beginning Wednesday, May 13, Surfing and paddle boarding will be allowed. Gathering in groups on the beach is not. Please change and prepare for surfing OFF the beach and boardwalk until those areas are reopened.
Singles rowing and singles kayaking will also be allowed May 13th, but doubles, quads and eights are not. ALL team sports are not yet allowed, and these fall under that category. The Viking Rowing Club's self-imposed guidelines include that use of ergs, weights and congregating at the boathouse is not permitted until further notice.
All beaches will be open and guarded through Labor Day! After the holiday, Ventnor City Beach Patrol will guard Suffolk, Dorset, New Haven and Lafayette Avenue beaches through Sunday, September 15.
