The Department of Public Works is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of public facilities, infrastructure and assets. The Department performs and/or oversees the Divisions of Administration, Sanitation, Facilities Maintenance, Field Operations, Fleet Operations and City Wide Operations.
The mission of the Ventnor City Public Works Department is to keep the City clean and well maintained, improve City facilities and infrastructure and provide quick and courteous services. Our goal is the satisfaction of our residents and visitors and the maintenance and improvement of Ventnor City’s public assets to the highest standards and quality.
Trash and recycling collection is performed by the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA). Recycling collection is performed EVERY WEEK. Please set your recyclables out on the same days as your trash, but be sure to keep your trash and recyclables at least 10 feet apart. Please have materials curbside by 7 a.m. on collection day. Trash and recycling must be placed in carts provided by the City. Carts are the property of the City and may not be removed from the property.

DO NOT use plastic bags for your recyclables or yard waste.
YARD WASTE: (Leaves, brush, Grass, Clean Wood). All yard waste must be placed in Kraft bags or properly marked containers. Plastic Bags are not permitted. Place loose material in labeled cans or bags; bags should not exceed 50 lbs. Brushes/ branches: must be bundled & tied with twine. Should not exceed 4 ft. in length or 8” in diameter. BULKY WASTE: One item per trash day is permitted to go out on the curb next to your regular trash, including furniture and carpeting. TV's and other electronics are not accepted. No construction waste. No appliances with freon. Appliances without freon are accepted.
TV PICKUP: TV’s are picked up on your regular trash day, but you must call Public Works at 609-823-7935 to have them picked up.

Off-Season Schedule
The off-season schedule is in effect beginning the Tuesday after Labor Day through Memorial Day. It includes side streets from and including Victoria Avenue to Fredericksburg Avenue, from Atlantic Avenue to Monmouth Avenue and the beach blocks from Jackson Avenue to Fredericksburg Avenue.
